What data is involved
- Node health. Whether your node is online and working, and its software state. Tez sees this by default.
- Video, recordings and alerts. Your cameras produce these. They are processed and stored on your node. Tez can look at them only with your separate consent.
- Family DNS view. If you use it, the list of sites each device asks for. It shows domains, not messages or content.
- Contact details. What you send us when you contact us: name, company, email, phone and your message.
- Support records. When a support session happens, a record of who, when and why. The page where you can read it is Coming soon
Where it lives
Detection, recording and the family DNS log run on the node at your premises, and stay there by default. Cloud access and cloud AI features are optional add-ons, off until you ask. The optional event summaries add-on sends event thumbnails only.
Who can access it
You and the people you give access to. Tez staff see node health by default. They can see more only when you allow a support session, with separate consent for video, recordings and the Guardian activity view. The consent controls are Coming soon See Trust and security for what is live today.
Children and the family DNS view
The family DNS view can show a parent which sites each device asks for, and block categories on a schedule. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, personal data of a child needs the consent of a parent or lawful guardian. Set this up only for children you are responsible for, and we recommend telling them it is on. A device using its own VPN or private DNS can bypass it.
How long we keep data
Video and DNS history are kept on your node for the period you set there. For records Tez holds, such as support records and contact messages, retention periods are being finalised.

- nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you cannot
